View of the Loferer Steinberge

Highlight • Viewpoint

With a height of up to 2,500m, the Loferer Steinberge are higher than the Wilder Kaiser. The striking peaks make it very impressive, both from the Pillersee side and from the Lofer side.

Hintertal, from Weißbach to Hirschbichl

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

The section from Weißbach bei Lofer up to Hirschbichl, through the Hintertal, is a section that probably not everyone likes to drive.
The route to the top of the pass has a total length of 6.7 km (15% sign to the top of the pass) and you have to climb approx. 520 meters in altitude.
km 0 to 2.4: the first meter is humane, but the first steeper section with 15% quickly follows
2.4 to 3.7 km: the climb is a bit more humane over this one-kilometre stretch.
Km 3.7 to 4.7: from here you have the same climb as before (15%).
4.7 to 6 km: From the car park you have the biggest hurdle in front of you, a 30% incline is quite a challenge.
6 to 6.7 km: After the greatest exertion, you still have 700m to the top of the pass, which is almost a recovery.

A beautiful route with great challenges. We drove the route from Berchtesgaden to Weißenbach. A large hiking bus drives from Berchtesgaden to the top of the pass. We had to stop when it came towards us from the top of the pass. We managed to get going again up the mountain, 😅but it's not that easy when you're travelling with luggage. Our bikes with e-assistance and large mountain sprockets helped us. I didn't put my brakes through the small section with a 30% gradient, so I pushed the short section.
