The self-service shop here belongs to the Haus Wildenrath e.V. nature conservation station and offers an area with information material (flyers and hiking maps) as well as a small self-service shop. Behind the building is a nice area with several places to sit, making this a great place to rest. There is also a small maze behind the building if you feel like taking an alternative route.

The way over the dam is currently (04.2022) officially closed and marked as "life-threatening" because a bridgehead of the footbridge has collapsed. However, many hikers literally ignore it at their own risk and circumvent or climb over the barrier because the crooked footbridge seems quite stable. However, I cannot give a recommendation to use this path despite the blocking, it is better to use other paths!

The dream path opens up to hikers the beauties of nature in the Schaagbachtal with different habitats. With a little luck you might see kingfishers or bats. West of Wildenrath it goes along the Schaagbach through the forest towards Birgelen. The transition between the two brook valleys is formed by an unspoilt forest landscape.
