Castle Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

A must see when visiting Nice, however a word of warning, it's not always turned on, presumably for cleaning.

We visited during the hottest part of the day, so allowing the spray from the waterfall to hit us was incredibly refreshing. The views from the top are spectacular too, we must have spent an hour and a half just admiring the views out over Nice.

A nature reserve with beautiful hiking trails, an olive grove, a traditional Italian Provencal farm and a wonderful view of the Bay of Angels and the Bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Mount Vinaigrier consists of a limestone plateau at an altitude of 370 meters and more or less steep slopes, on which some terraces were created. On the plateau grow high Aleppo pines and holm oaks.

The remains of a cyclopean wall, characteristic of the true castellans, testify to the former existence of a small Ligurian community with pastoral and agricultural activities.

The farmers had developed a sophisticated irrigation system that consisted of vertical and horizontal wells to collect rainwater. Today, the olive grove is cultivated by the workers of the Établissement Spécialisé d 'Aide au Travail (ESAT).
