The Hunsberg street, together with the surrounding streets such as Breestraten and Kleistraat, forms the core of the hamlet of the same name, which is located on the border of Merchtem and the sub-municipality of Brussegem, and extends north and south of the Wolvertemsesteenweg. The name would date from the 19th century, and was previously so-called "Heinsberg". The toponym refers to the Hunsberg, a motte at a height of 40 meters, now situated at the Wolvertemsesteenweg, northwest of the intersection with the Kleistraat. The current U-shaped remnant with a diameter of 37 meters and a height of 6 to 7 meters indicates a large artificial embankment, which has been affected over time by leveling works.
