There are currently a few trees on the trail

You do have to be prepared to lift your bike over and under the tree trunks. There were many (about 6) serious gusts on the path. Otherwise better detour from the top

Potentially beautiful path along the edge of the Dijle valley, with beautiful views over the fields and a nice route through the forest. However, the condition of the trail makes it almost impassable in many places: overgrown with grass in the open section through the fields (north side), and fallen trees and numerous mud sections from wells along the trail side in the forest section (south side).

Here is the return of my experience of the day on the slopes of the Bois des Rêves! Positive points: The tracks are surprisingly technical, it is surprising in our regions. We are clearly on typical enduro tracks of intermediate/confirmed level. They are entirely reserved for mountain biking, so you won't risk running into a hiker in the middle of your descent! In addition we have grip everywhere since the ground is slightly sandy. The difference in level is quite significant because the wood is located on a pronounced hillock. There are a lot of different tracks in a very concentrated place. There are jumps, wooden structures, etc... Finally, there are some gentler tracks to go up the slope quietly and start again. There are large car parks nearby if you come by car. The negatives: The place is small so inevitably the descents are very short and do not allow you to gain a lot of speed. Access is totally free but suddenly it lacks regular maintenance and markup. By dint of passages, most of the tracks reveal a lot of roots and not small ones! So you have to like riding on it otherwise go your way. Finally I was there for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon and only met a mountain biker but I guess it must be complicated to have the way free on the weekend given the narrowness of the place and the tracks. Also there are quite a few crossings which can be dangerous if crowded. In any case, do not hesitate to go there!

Grez-Doiceau is known for its extensive network of natural mountain bike trails and scenic cycling routes rather than traditional bike parks with engineered features. You'll find diverse terrain, from forest paths to rural tracks, offering a range of experiences for different skill levels.
Yes, there are several challenging options. For instance, the Ketelheide Downhill Trail offers a technical downhill experience with a fast descent. Another demanding option is the Singletrack in Nationaal Park Brabantse Wouden, which features a challenging sandy surface and requires smaller gears for climbs. The Dolmen Stone of Duisburg loop can also include very technical portions (STS S3 - S6).
The Mountain Bike Trails in Bois des Rêves are entirely reserved for mountain biking and feature surprisingly technical tracks with jumps and wooden structures. These trails are concentrated in a small area, offering an enduro-like experience.
While many mountain bike trails require good fitness and advanced skills, the region also offers scenic cycling routes suitable for families. The La Hulpe Forest provides tranquil rides through lush greenery, and the Châteaux de la Hulpe Loop offers a picturesque experience past historic châteaux and manicured gardens, blending natural beauty with cultural heritage.
Intermediate riders can enjoy trails like the Singletrack Zoniënwoud, which is described as a fun, smooth, and almost flat singletrack with logs to jump over or go under. The Rural Path with a View loop from Pécrot and The Long Path, Meerdaalwoud loop from Gottechain are also moderate options requiring good fitness and advanced riding skills (STS S0 - S1).
Many trails offer beautiful natural surroundings. For example, the Meerdaalwoud (Meerdaal Forest) provides immersive natural settings. The MTB Singletrack Brabantse Wouden can offer beautiful views over fields and a route through the forest, especially when not overgrown or muddy.
For the Mountainbike Route GREZ-DOICEAU, you can start from multiple points with parking available, including the church in Biez (Rue du Beau Site 30), the parking at Place Ernest Dubois 15 in Grez-Doiceau, or the church in Archennes (Rue des Moulins 4). The Bois des Rêves also has large car parks nearby.
Beyond mountain biking, Grez-Doiceau offers a variety of outdoor activities. You can explore gravel biking routes, enjoy road cycling routes, or discover numerous hiking trails, such as the Nice forest trail loop from Gastuche or the Pécrot Pond loop from Florival.
The trails around Grez-Doiceau are generally enjoyable in various seasons. However, some trails, like the MTB Singletrack Brabantse Wouden, can become very muddy in winter. For the best experience, consider visiting during drier periods to avoid challenging muddy sections and overgrown paths.
Yes, the Châteaux de la Hulpe Loop offers a unique blend of active exploration and cultural appreciation. This route guides cyclists past historic châteaux and through beautifully manicured gardens, allowing you to enjoy the region's heritage alongside its natural beauty.
For longer rides, consider the Dolmen Stone of Duisburg – Ravensteindreef Main Path loop from Pécrot, which can be up to 74.1 km with 770m of elevation, taking around 5 hours. This route offers diverse terrain and can be quite challenging.
