The Schotte Sports Centre in Aalst is a multifunctional sports complex that was created on the former site of the Schotte tannery. The sports centre includes a state-of-the-art sports hall, an Olympic gymnastics hall, a combat and dance hall, a fitness room, and an athletics track. It also offers climbing facilities, mountain bike trails, kayak trails and much more. One of the most striking features of the sports centre is the new climbing tower, also known as "Blue Diamond". This 16-metre high ropes course was designed by The Outsider and consists of three levels with different levels of difficulty. It is accessible to both beginners and advanced climbers and offers a unique climbing experience with a combination of rope bridges, stairs, climbing and balancing exercises. The history of the site begins with the Schotte tannery, whose beautifully renovated gatehouses and the long factory wall still form the iconic streetscape of the Kapellekensbaan. The sports centre is now one of the most modern sports sites in Belgium and offers a wide range of sports facilities and activities.

An ultra-modern multifunctional sports center was built on the former site of the Schotte tannery on the legendary "Kapellekensbaan" (cf. the book by Aalster native L.ouis Paul Boon). The play forest will become 'POLLEBOS' (May 2021, Facebook Natuurpunt Londerzeel) We could not pay a better tribute to “Paul Van Ingelgem”. Paul was a pioneer and driving force behind Natuurpunt Londerzeel. When Natuurpunt was given management of the Marselaer area, Paul was able to realize his big dream. A four-hectare play forest where children can romp in complete freedom, build camps and come up with the craziest games.

The Hunsberg street, together with the surrounding streets such as Breestraten and Kleistraat, forms the core of the hamlet of the same name, which is located on the border of Merchtem and the sub-municipality of Brussegem, and extends north and south of the Wolvertemsesteenweg. The name would date from the 19th century, and was previously so-called "Heinsberg". The toponym refers to the Hunsberg, a motte at a height of 40 meters, now situated at the Wolvertemsesteenweg, northwest of the intersection with the Kleistraat. The current U-shaped remnant with a diameter of 37 meters and a height of 6 to 7 meters indicates a large artificial embankment, which has been affected over time by leveling works. There are traces of a moat around the upper court in the shape of a 3-metre-wide crescent, interrupted on the badly damaged northern side of the motte. On the other hand, no traces of the farmyard have been preserved.

There is a free heavy gate to get to it, but a little further you can just open it. Nice to do a few tours. Some curves, a few pump bumps and small licorice. All in all nicely done.
