A beautiful Trail with a constantly changing surface carried out on a wet surface is really demanding ... Winding full of ups and downs and technical sections with rocky bottom.

Typical CrossCountry take. Evocative like the whole AQP area and adrenaline-filled if done at speed (especially downhill for a couple of drops). Care must be taken due to the humidity having the microclimate of the undergrowth. After the rains so be careful because it becomes really slippery. For the rest, the segment is really beautiful, passable all year round. Definitely better on MTB but with due attention and speed it can also be done on Gravel.

Equipped public green area, not far from the center of Alberobello, which extends for about 45 hectares and is one of the sites of community importance of Alberobello. The vegetation is mainly composed of fragni, holm oaks and downy oaks. Various itineraries start from here, mostly dirt roads and suitable for mountain biking, as well as the cycle route 1B Alberobello-Martina Franca.

Complicated MTB tour, a real marathon, indescribable route from Pianelle to Pianelle passing through the districts of Pozzo Masiello Locorotondo and turning in Bosco Selva, ending in 7Tumoli ..... but is it all true? 😜

The Bosco Selva is considered the “green lung” of Alberobello and is just 800 meters from the town, running alongside the Trulli del Bosco. Its extension, equal to an area of 45 hectares, releases more than 920 tons of pure oxygen in a year, revealing itself in the area as a unique natural oasis for its biodiversity and, according to recent studies, a container of the purest air in the region.

Alberobello and its surrounding Itria Valley offer a diverse range of cycling experiences. You can find scenic touring routes that pass through trulli houses, vineyards, and historic towns, as well as more challenging mountain bike trails within nature reserves and wooded areas. The region caters to various skill levels, from easy family-friendly rides to technical downhill sections.
Yes, several options are suitable for families. The Bosco Selva Nature Reserve offers countless paths for walking or biking, along with play areas for children and outdoor picnic spots. Additionally, many e-bike tours are available, making longer distances and varied terrain accessible for all fitness levels, including families and seniors.
For mountain biking with technical sections, consider Monte San Nicola, which features a network of fast and technical trails. Another option is SIC 11 and La Seconda sul Canale, an intermediate trail combining a descent into the Pirro Canal with an ascent on the AQP route, offering adrenaline-filled sections, especially downhill.
The region is rich in natural beauty. You can cycle through the 'green lung' of Alberobello at Bosco Selva Nature Reserve, which is home to fragno, holm oak, and downy oak trees. Monte San Nicola offers vast panoramas and a wooded area with Mediterranean scrub and karst formations, including caves.
Absolutely. The Itria Valley is perfect for this. Routes like the 'Alberobello to Locorotondo along the Via dell'Acqua' take you through wild stretches with Mediterranean scrub and allow a stop in Locorotondo to admire its 'Cummerse'. The 'Itria Valley Villages Loop' also lets you explore Martina Franca, Locorotondo, and the trulli of Alberobello.
The trails are generally passable all year round. However, some trails, like SIC 11 and La Seconda sul Canale, can become very slippery after heavy rains due to humidity and microclimate of the undergrowth. Similarly, the challenging SIC 2 Trail: Decimo Downhill is strongly not recommended in wet conditions, except for very experienced riders.
For touring, you can explore routes like the 'Itria Valley Trulli and Aqueduct Loop,' a moderate 52.3 km route showcasing trulli houses and vineyards. Another option is the 'Itria Valley Villages Loop,' an easy 39.0 km route that takes you through Martina Franca, Locorotondo, and the trulli of Alberobello. You can find more options in the Cycling around Alberobello guide.
Yes, Alberobello offers excellent gravel biking opportunities. Routes such as 'The Trulli of Alberobello – Trulli in Alberobello loop from Trulli Relax Lumieri' provide moderate challenges. For more options, check out the Gravel biking around Alberobello guide, which includes routes like 'Galante Cycle Bridge – Figazzano Bridge loop from Alberobello' for a more difficult experience.
Yes, there are several running trails available. You can find routes like 'Alberobello, the city of trulli – loop run in the historic center' or 'Alberobello, the City of Trulli – Bosco Selva Nature Reserve loop from Alberobello.' More running options are detailed in the Running Trails around Alberobello guide.
Visitors highly appreciate the unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The trails offer evocative scenery, from the 'green lung' of Bosco Selva Nature Reserve to the panoramic views from Monte San Nicola. Many enjoy the varied terrain, from winding ups and downs to technical sections, and the chance to cycle through areas surrounded by trulli, olive groves, and ancient dry stone walls.
The Barsento–Canale di Pirro Trail is considered a multi-faceted and fun trail. It features a winding path on the hill's top, then descends into the woods with fast-beaten parts and technical sections with rocks and roots. It's described as a joy for both experienced and novice bikers, especially when done at speed.
