The land elevation at Lake Vättern is different in the northern and southern parts, which means that the water in the Vättern basin slowly tilts southwards. The waves of the water erode the beach and at Rosenlund the beach edge shifts southwards by an average of two to three decimetres every year.

Unfortunately, the path in the nature reserve only allows views of the demolition banks in a few places.

Super nice bay, but what should be considered for parking you need the "Parkster" app. Otherwise absolutely recommendable!

November 15, 2019, Valekleven Swimming Bay

The Valekleven-Ombo Islands are a nature reserve in the municipality Karlsborg in the district Västra Götaland. The area has been protected since 1996 and covers 586 hectares. The nature reserve is located north of Karlsborg on the northwestern shore of the Vättern on both sides of the previously protected nature reserve Granvik. A dozen larger islands and islets and more copper and inserts are included. Granite is the dominant type of rock with elements of greenstone and diabase. Valekleven is a mountain region on the western shore of Lake Vättern. It is an 80 meter high rock face with steep sides in all directions. The Ombo Islands include five mountainous islands with natural harbors in the form of bays and lagoons. The area between the Ombo Islands and the mainland is called Djäknesundet. There is a parking in the nature reserve above the popular beach. The water in Djäknasundet and in the bay appears green. This is due to the greenstone that leads down into the lake. The stones in the bath are often used to jump from five meters or more into the clear water. The area is part of the EU Network for Ecological Protected Areas Natura 2000. https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valekleven-Ombo_öar
