From this place there is probably the most beautiful view of the Książ Castle. At the bottom of the terrace there is a path to the ruins of the old castle.

A wonderful castle that is a must-see. I've been here several times and each time I discover it anew. Now I came across a flower exhibition and it was fabulous. In the case of an individual tour, I recommend using an audioguide set. This will help you learn the history and secrets of the castle and the Hochberg family. Tickets cost approximately PLN 80 including the palm house and underground.

A very nice short, not particularly demanding trail. Very spectacular in the vicinity of the Ksiaż Castle. We recommend it to everyone!

Książański Landscape Park is home to several remarkable natural monuments. Among the most significant are the Jeziorko Daisy Nature Reserve, known for its emerald-green lake formed in a flooded limestone quarry, and the Przełomy pod Książem Nature Reserve, which protects the dramatic gorges of the Pełcznica and Szczawnik rivers. Within the latter, you'll find the ancient Yew Tree 'Bolko' Nature Monument, estimated to be 400-600 years old.
Yes, many natural monuments in Książański Landscape Park are suitable for families. Both the Yew Tree 'Bolko' Nature Monument and the Bolko Yew (Cis Bolko) are listed as family-friendly. The trails around these sites, particularly within the Pełcznica river gorge, offer accessible paths for a pleasant outing. The unique geological features of Jeziorko Daisy also make for an engaging educational experience for children.
At Jeziorko Daisy, you'll encounter a fascinating flooded limestone quarry. The surrounding cliffs are rich in fossils of corals, crinoids, and brachiopods, providing a glimpse into the area's ancient past when it was submerged under a shallow, warm sea. The lake itself is known for its distinctive emerald-green color, a result of the minerals present in the water.
The Przełomy pod Książem Nature Reserve is unique for its dramatic river gorges carved by the Pełcznica and Szczawnik rivers, especially beneath Książ Castle. It features steep slopes, numerous rock formations from Lower Carboniferous conglomerates, and a rich diversity of flora, including ancient yew trees. The presence of 'hanging bridges' and the varied terrain add to its adventurous appeal for hikers.
Absolutely. The Terrace with a view of Książ Castle offers one of the most beautiful perspectives of the castle. This viewpoint is located on a cliff, providing an excellent eastern view of the historic Schloss Fürstenstein. The trails within the Przełomy pod Książem Nature Reserve also offer breathtaking views of the castle perched above the deep river canyons.
The area around Książański Landscape Park is excellent for various outdoor activities. You can enjoy hiking along trails that wind through the gorges and forests, offering views of the natural monuments and historical sites. Cycling and gravel biking are also popular, with routes like the 'Książ Castle and Gardens – Książ Castle loop' for hikers, or longer cycling routes like 'Poleśnicki Pond I – Wałbrzych Palm House loop'.
While the natural monuments can be enjoyed year-round, spring and autumn often offer the most pleasant conditions for exploring. In spring, the forests are lush and vibrant, while autumn brings a spectacular display of colors. Summer is also popular, though it can be warmer. Winter walks can be beautiful, especially with snow, but some trails might be more challenging due to ice or snow.
Yes, history is intertwined with nature here. Jeziorko Daisy is named after Princess Daisy von Pless, who frequently rode horses in the area. Remnants of the quarry's operations, including two lime kilns, can still be seen, with one converted into a hunting lodge. The area around Książ Castle, a significant historical site, is also considered a natural monument, and the 'Hochberg Path' within the Pełcznica gorge highlights the historical connections of the region.
The diverse ecosystems within Książański Landscape Park, particularly in the Przełomy pod Książem Nature Reserve, support a variety of wildlife. You might spot tree frogs, smooth snakes, eagle owls, fire salamanders, pied flycatchers, and even eight different bat species. The rich flora, including various forest types, provides excellent habitats for these creatures, making it a good spot for birdwatching and nature observation.
Beyond the prominent reserves and the Bolko Yew, Książański Landscape Park protects a total of 17 natural monuments. These include other ancient yew trees scattered throughout the park, as well as three historic avenues of trees—two of linden trees and one of chestnut trees. The park's varied topography also features numerous 'small rock outcrops with interesting views' that offer secluded beauty and unique perspectives for those willing to explore off the main paths.
