Coming from Mte Lego, a great Vrb trail to the Sentiero Collina Alta or to then whizz down to Brione sM. S3. Short video: https://youtu.be/-ADu8iED7Zs?si=nhF4V5qYcVUinvMS

After the Rasa Trail https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/133646, after a little refreshment in the grotto of Rasa, this trail (Rasa-Bordei) follows. You absolutely have to keep left at the first junction (Bordei is signposted). It is very difficult to ride at the beginning, if not impossible. But then (as cadillac55555 mentioned before me) it gets a lot better, even wide and flowing - a lot of investment has been made, improvements made and made safer...

Since I took the partially drivable hiking trail from S2 to S3 as a shortcut (50% drivable), I can only speak for the second part of this route. Machines were used to work on the path here and from my point of view it is now only an S1 at most! Which was a very welcome innovation.

This point is an obligatory stop, because it is really worth it, for hikers who have decided to take the beautiful Tamaro->Lema crossing or vice versa Lema->Tamaro 😊

Can you see the Verzasca dam on the right? The opening scene of James Bond Goldeneye was filmed there. I'm referring to Pierce Brosnan's 300m deep bungee jump. In the film, the location was sold to the viewer as Belarus. Now you know better.

Monte Tamaro really rewards the hiker for his effort. The view is amazing. This was my second time doing this hike. It requires a lot of fitness and sure-footedness. I start this tour from Monte Lema and finish it via Alpe Flopa in the Riviera and then return by bus. Our tour was not overcrowded, few hikers came towards us (July)

The Ascona-Locarno region is renowned for its diverse mountain biking trails. You can expect a blend of challenging terrain, varied landscapes from alpine heights to palm-lined lakeshores, and breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. The mild climate allows for biking almost year-round, and trails are well-maintained, catering to all skill levels.
Yes, the region offers several challenging trails for experienced riders. The Carbon Trail Entrance features sections that are 30% challenging and 70% flowing. Another option is the Crest Trail Section (Route 201 Monterecchio–Passo Forcora), which is recommended for experts due to difficult stretches with pointy stones and large roots.
Beyond the main highlights, popular trails in the region include Lucertole, Passerotto Trail, and the Ibex Segment, all highly rated by the biking community. For a more extensive ride, consider the difficult 25.1-mile Corona dei Pinci MTB Loop with epic views of Lago Maggiore.
Absolutely. Monte Tamaro offers a spectacular panoramic view of a large part of Ticino, including two lakes and surrounding valleys from 1,960 meters. The Corona dei Pinci MTB Loop also provides epic views of Lago Maggiore, and the Monti Motti Bike Trail offers breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore during its asphalt climb.
Thanks to its mild climate and approximately 2,300 hours of sunshine per year, the Ascona-Locarno region provides excellent biking conditions for most of the year. It's an ideal destination even when other parts of the Alps are still covered in snow, allowing for almost year-round biking.
Yes, the region caters to a wide range of abilities, including family-friendly routes. While specific easy bike parks aren't listed, the overall network includes trails suitable for beginners. Visitors frequently praise the diverse and well-maintained trails. Many highlight the exciting nature of routes like the S3 Trail Cardada–Sentiero Collina Alta Connection, noting its larger stones and flowy sections. The stunning views, especially from vantage points like Monte Tamaro, are also a major draw.
