This trail is actually the continuation of the "flowy single trail" and runs more or less on the ridge of the Bärenboden, finally a little steeper down to the road. S1, often roots. Flowy, nice to drive. The continuation down to Zell then either on the meadow path, later on the road or on the "zigzag hiking trail" (steep stairs, picturesque with wooden figures, but not suitable for bikes, almost always had to carry).

First root trail in the forest, S1, then nice and flowing on meadow trail.

Three almost parallel paths. From above (eastern starting point) this trail, marked with S2 on the komoot map, is the longest and in the lower part the most difficult (very steep here). Next to it from the same point are two completely parallel, shorter paths, the left one from above (= middle of the three) a veritable root trail (S1 to S2), on the far right is the hiking trail.

There are now a few bike tracks next to the stairs. Be careful in the lower area, there are Viehhütter wires stretched out, so be careful before you come onto the meadow

That it's more S2 to S3 is more true than the S1 designation from komoot 🤔

The Gachnang region primarily offers a variety of mountain bike tours and gravel rides, rather than dedicated bike parks with constructed features like jump lines or pump tracks. You'll find diverse natural terrain, scenic beauty, and routes suitable for different skill levels, ranging from easy to challenging off-road cycling.
Yes, experienced riders can find challenging trails. For instance, the Grat Trail Zurich (S2–S3) is known for its narrow, root-covered ridge and steep descents. Another option is the Schattenberg Singletrail, which offers beautiful and varied singletrack that can be quite demanding.
Intermediate riders looking for flow can enjoy the Börenboden Flow Trail. This trail is described as flowy with roots, running along a ridge before a steeper descent, making it a pleasant ride for those with some experience.
The region offers numerous gravel rides. A popular moderate option is the Thur River – Ganggelisteg Suspension Bridge loop from Frauenfeld Marktplatz, which spans 50.8 km with scenic views along the Thur River. Other notable routes include the Thur River Trail – Roosetaaler Pond loop from Islikon and the Ittingen Charterhouse – View of the River Thur loop from Warth-Weiningen.
Yes, the Polenweg Trail is notable for its historical context. It was built by Polish soldiers interned in Switzerland during World War II, with a blackboard on the way explaining its history. This trail also offers beautiful far views over the Bichelsee.
Many trails offer scenic beauty. For example, the Polenweg Trail provides a very nice view north to Ettenhausen and Guntershausen. Gravel rides along the Thur River offer picturesque riverbank views, and many mountain bike routes traverse forests, providing a natural setting.
Beyond biking, Gachnang offers various outdoor activities. You can explore numerous running trails, such as the Scholenholzbach Waterfall loop. There are also many hiking trails, including easy loops like Schloss Kefikon School – Schloss Kefikon. For more mountain biking, check out the dedicated MTB Trails around Gachnang guide.
Yes, several routes cater to all skill levels. Many gravel rides, such as the Thur River Trail – Roosetaaler Pond loop from Islikon, are suitable for any fitness level and correspond to STS S0 - S1 difficulty. These often feature mostly paved surfaces, making them accessible for beginners.
Visitors frequently praise the diverse experiences offered by the trails. They appreciate the beautiful and varied singletrack, the engaging and sometimes challenging sections, and the opportunity to explore the rugged beauty and diverse landscapes of the region. The community has upvoted these trails over 60 times, highlighting their appeal.
For challenging trails like the Grat Trail Zurich (S2–S3), it's often recommended to ride only when dry due to narrow, rooty, and steep sections. Similarly, the Polenweg Trail is not recommended on wet ground as the upper half can be quite steep and slippery.
The Elgger Biketrail Stage 1: Schauenberg Descent is known for its unique artistic elements. Along the entire descent on the Elgger side around the Schauenberg, you'll find beautiful carvings worked into tree stumps, adding an interesting visual aspect to your ride.
