Štrbački Buk Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Štrbački Buk is a fabulously beautiful place with a magnificent waterfall. The Una National Park is located almost directly on the Croatian-Bosnian border, approx. 25 km south of Bihać.
It is very large, but you can cycle through it perfectly with a mountain bike.
We ourselves chose entrance 1 and cycled approx. 14 km from there to the waterfall... the route itself is a gravel road... approx. 230 m of altitude gain... but then it feels like 700 m back down to the Una on the other side.
To continue, you can either go back or choose a longer tour, e.g. to entrance 3 to the south. We ourselves went over the mountains to entrance 2... you can only get to the top by pushing... but uphill a nice S 2 trail awaits you over washed-out gravel and stone tracks (our route as a screenshot in the pictures).
Tip and comparison:
While you (only on foot) visit the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia... it costs approx. 50,- Euro per person for entry and another approx. 15,- Euro for parking, depending on how long you stay... plus what feels like a million people... phew. In Una National Park, on the other hand... 3.50 Euro per person for entry and free parking !!
At the waterfall, no one says anything if you want to go swimming there (just walk down the wooden boardwalk all the way to the bottom, there's a good opportunity to get into the water safely)... there's also everything else you need there... toilet, drinks and food... definitely try the Bosnian coffee...🤩
Well... got curious? then maybe on your next vacation go there and explore the magnificent landscape yourself. 🤗

Mlinčići Water Mills

Highlight • Monument

The wooden huts connected by small footbridges date back to the time of Austro-Hungarian rule and were built directly on a stream of small rivers. The farmers living here made flour from wheat. Today the mills are no longer in operation, but can be visited publicly. Currently it only costs a parking ticket for the car. 🥾🥾

Ravne Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

From my point of view, Ravne Park is a wonderful place for young and old, big and small, families ...! People can enjoy their time here, especially in summer. Whether alone, as a couple or in a family or group. In combination with the tunnel and the wellness oasis, which is currently under construction, even a whole day's stay is very entertaining. There is a lot to explore ... the dragon's eye or the vibrating hill, also known as the "Bell Tower". Here you can let your mind wander. Even in winter there are always surprises here.

Translated from the entrance info board:

The legend says that after the tragic fate of two sisters, at the places of their death, two rivers sprang forth. In one river the water was clear and cold, cold to quench the thirst of all people. The river was named Zdena.

The other, longer one, named Bliha, broke against a high rock and there a waterfall was created, called waterfall Bliha, which with its leap countless sparks of light always evoke sighs and admiration of people.

...like the silky hair of a young girl, the river descended into the lowlands, flowed quietly into the calm embrace of the river Sana, its blessed mother...

Trail to the Pyramid of the Sun (Visoko)

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The pyramid of the sun is probably the most imposing appearance of the pyramid complex in Bosnia. Located on the outskirts of the city of Visoko, it towers over the landscape for a long time. In its size and monumental splendor, the pyramid of the sun far exceeds the impression that the great pyramid of Giza in Egypt leaves on the viewer. The Pyramid of the Sun, a hill with regular pyramidal geometry, covered with a man-made concrete cover.

The pyramid of the sun impresses with a height of 220 meters and is therefore a third higher than the great pyramid of Giza. This makes it one of the tallest pyramids on earth today.

An extremely strong beam of energy emerges from the pyramid of the sun. Amazingly, this energy beam does not become weaker with increasing distance from the solar pyramid, as one might actually expect, but becomes many times stronger and more intense on its way. In the search for the source of this energy, it was found that it was probably a metallic, parabolic “plate” with a diameter of 800 meters.

Bregava River and its Mills

Highlight • River

The river Bregava and its buildings - bridges, mills and punching mills over the river - form the backbone of the urban layout of Stolac. It passes two waterfalls in Stolac, one natural and one artificial, and continues on its way through the Bregava Gorge that leads to Badanj Cave. It is famous for its pure blue color, like the Neretva river that flows through Mostar. Many natural beaches are spread along the river. Bregava - de.qaz.wiki/wiki/Bregava

If you want to see a waterfall illuminated by sunbeams, the best time to visit is in the morning. Additionally, you can expect fewer crowds in the early morning hours.

Gate 1 is the start, a friendly man greets you and you have to pay 16 BM, which also includes the visit to the waterfalls. A pretty good trail leads you first 4 km uphill before it goes down for about 10 km, down to the waterfalls. Here the gravel path ends.
