Beautiful gorge not far from the abandoned village of Cerna Sat - the gorge is definitely worth seeing! Right next to its entrance is a small guesthouse called "Perla Cerna", but you should definitely call beforehand; however, I had no luck with any of the 3 listed phone numbers, no one answered, no one was there, so I ended up wild camping.

Top high road, which is relatively busy, especially on weekends, but still far less busy than the Transfăgărășan!! The TransAlpina is also Romania's highest mountain pass! ❤️🇷🇴

La Colonne sans fin (Coloana Infinitului), created in 1938 by Constantin Brâncuși, is considered one of the major works of modern sculpture. Composed of 15 modules of cast steel, it reaches 29.3 meters and represents the idea of infinity through the rhythmic repetition of geometric shapes. It is part of the Târgu Jiu Triptych, a monumental ensemble dedicated to the heroes of World War I. The three works — the Table of Silence, the Gate of the Kiss, and the Endless Column — are aligned on a symbolic axis of 1.5 km. The site is free, permanently open, and easily accessible from the city center. The best light for photos is between 5 PM and 7 PM, when the long shadows emphasize the column's verticality. A must-see for lovers of modern art and for anyone wishing to understand Brâncuși's legacy in Romania.

Wonderful structure in the middle of the park built by famous sculptor Constantin Brâncuși. You are not allowed to walk on the grass because there is a security guard nearby.

At the exit of Cerna Sat, a small town in the Cernei Valley, the Cerna River has carved a spectacular landscape into the limestone walls of the Mehedinti Mountains, with vertical walls reaching 100 m in height, overhangs and gorges of 4 to 6 meters ascending to the Corcoaiia Gorges.

The road branches off from the Drum național 66 (European route 79) to the west at the southern edge of the mining town of Petroșani (Petroschen) and leads in the valley of the Jiu de Vest (Western Schil) via Vulcan (Wolkersdorf), Lupeni (Schylwolfsbach) and Uricani to Câmpu lui Neag, where the asphalt road ends, and continues between the Retezat Mountains to the north and the Vâlcan Mountains to the south through the Domogled-Valea Cernei National Park, follows the valley of the Cerna downstream and ends at Tațu at the confluence with the Drum național 67D. The length of the road is around 105 kilometers, of which only the eastern 28 kilometers are asphalted.
