For a long time, nothing at the Sebastian Chapel near Kupferberg indicated its patron saint. Due to its design, visitors assumed it was a chapel dedicated to Mary. Only during the renovation in 2017 was the old connection to Saint Sebastian made clear again: through an image in the niche above the chapel entrance. Many pilgrimage groups stop at the chapel every year on their way to the Marienbasilika Marienweiher for a prayer.

The three-nave hall church was originally built around 1300 as the Church of Our Lady. Its patron saint, St. Vitus, is considered the patron of miners – fitting for the city's great mining history. Inside, the intricate net vaulting, a late Gothic statue of Our Lady on the high altar, and a rare tabernacle from the founding period are fascinating.

The Peterlesstein is a fascinating natural monument. The 589-meter-high mountain consists of serpentinite rock with magnetite inclusions, which are said to make compass needles go haywire here. However, our compass showed the cardinal directions normally, even though we tried at different spots.

Perfect place for a cozy break. The inn impresses with regional cuisine, especially the fresh trout from its own breeding and Angus beef from the surrounding area. In good weather, you can enjoy sitting on the sun terrace.
