It is worth making this other climb, once you get here, because this village recalls some areas of Trentino, in terms of environments... and then, you can enjoy the spectacle of one of the Novalesa waterfalls up close and, on the opposite side, a view overview of the famous abbey (which is worth visiting, given that it is a short distance from where the descent begins)

I had already been to the Scarfiotti Refuge about ten years ago. It was nice to go back. It is in a beautiful valley surrounded by waterfalls and lakes and of course mountains. The new management is made up of young guys, very kind and welcoming. Excellent general cleaning. We stayed overnight in the shared dormitory - we requested a sheet bag - but being a Friday night it was just us. Abundant breakfast as well as a very abundant dinner, which was welcome because we had arrived by pedaling. Ideal place for an overnight stay and for the subsequent departure towards Sommeiller, but also as a stop for a lunch. Excellent and recommended.

While Giaglione itself doesn't have prominent waterfalls directly within its municipality, the wider Piedmont region offers spectacular cascades. Two of the most impressive are the Toce Falls (Cascate del Toce) in Formazza, one of Europe's highest with a 143-meter drop, and the Stroppia Waterfalls (Cascate di Stroppia) at the end of Valle Maira, renowned as Italy's highest with a total descent of almost 500 meters.
The best time to visit depends on the specific waterfall. For the Toce Falls, water is typically released from June to September due to hydroelectric regulation. The Stroppia Waterfalls are most powerful between late spring and early summer, thanks to melting snow and higher water levels from Lake Niera. Generally, summer offers good conditions for exploring the area's natural beauty.
