This crevice is or was a snow storage facility. Hence the “nickname” of the mountain. The peak is actually called Cima Tejeda. The cave, the Sima Maroma, was previously used as a snow storage facility. The snow was pulled up with the help of maromas, pull ropes, hence the name Sima Maroma. Because "Cima" and "Sima" sound so similar, the mountain is now called "Cima Maroma" or just La Maroma.

We found our way to the Barranco through the cairn in front of it. This is an indication in Spain that this is the hiking trail. The descent was totally worth it. Many eucalyptus trees grew in the river bed, there were climbing rocks and lots of caves.
