Overnight spot at Ranum Sø Hus with several shelters and plenty of space for tents, fireplace. The spot is under video surveillance! You have to think about whether you want to camp under surveillance. In Ranum Sø Hus there is a small exhibition, lots of tables and benches, toilet, shower, power outlet and even two rooms with bunk beds! There is also video surveillance inside this building! But be careful: During my visit on August 1st, 2024, the village youth arrived in the evening and started a noisy party with ghetto blasters. The whole thing escalated to the point that people eventually even climbed through the windows of the building. I fled to one of the other overnight spots at Ranum Sø. My recommendation: Enjoy the toilet, shower and power outlet here and move to one of the other spots for an overnight stay. These are not so suitable for parties.

Great place, 2 big and one smaller shelter. There's firewood (although not that much), big place for eating that's covered in case of rain, grills for the fire, and a playground for the kids. Even a toilet, although it's hard to locate

Several options cater to families. For instance, Skringstrup Shelter and Campsite and Fur Shelter and Campsite are noted as family-friendly. Additionally, shelters at Hvalpsund Familie Camping can accommodate up to 5 people and offer access to campsite facilities like playgrounds and swimming pools. Himmerland Camping also has Comfort Cabins with private facilities suitable for families.

Most municipal shelters are free and operate on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning no booking or permit is required. However, for shelters within private campsites or more equipped cabins, booking in advance and adhering to campsite rules (which may include fees) is necessary. Always practice Leave No Trace principles.
