Königsmühle Historic Mill and Pond

Highlight • Historical Site

The beautiful buildings in which the Camphill Königsmühle community is located today are significantly older than the facility itself. The history goes back to the beginning of the 18th century.

An application for a well house is known from 1719, and the foundation stone was laid in 1721. This was soon expanded to include a sawmill, which was powered by the water power of the stream that meanders along the Königsmühle.

After the buildings were burned down to the ground during the Napoleonic Wars, the Königsmühle was rebuilt in 1860. It became a naturopathic clinic. In 1888, the tower completed the design of the main building, which is still recognizable today, and a restaurant was opened. Despite interruptions due to family ownership and the chaos of war, the Königsmühle remained a popular hotel and restaurant in Neustadt until the 1980s.

Beautiful small waterfall with an idyllic setting. There is a place to stop for refreshments and benches on site. So there is nothing standing in the way of a short break.

This spring on a steep slope flows from 3 rock openings. The largest rock opening can be reached by walking along a short, small path along the two front rock openings. There is a very small pond at the bottom of the parallel hiking trail. The water from this spring flows into the Argenbach, which flows into the Speyerbach near Esthal-Breitenstein.
