Kellenbacher Woog Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

A small dam with a wide rubble overflow. Well worth a visit and a good place to take a break.

On January 22, 1985, an ice jam led to flooding of the main street and extensive damage to residents' buildings. After a three-week cold spell, the river was frozen solid in the town center and downstream towards Simmertal, but the onset of thaws caused large amounts of ice to drift. These accumulated above a wooded area and piled up under the bridge over the stream, which was only a few years old at the time. According to eyewitnesses, only a few centimeters were missing before the ice masses reached the bridge abutment. Competence conflicts between various authorities prevented the ice from being blown up, as requested by residents and which had also been carried out on previous occasions. After livestock had already been evacuated and sandbags had been ordered for protection, the ice finally broke up shortly before midnight and the water was able to flow away again.

Wiesbach Small Waterfall

At this point, the trail leads over the Wiesbach, just before he meets the Kellenbach.
The overbuilt watercourse then works on the sloping retaining wall, depending on the amount of water more or less impressive.

Here the Mottelbach has dug into the solid rock and formed a hollow with a "water slide".

Romantically wild brook valley. Pleasantly cool, especially in summer. The legend of the Trübenbach valley "The loyal servant Trübet guards in a hidden cave where the water falls on the rocks, until today the jewelry chest of his mistress, which went into the realm of the dead when the Kyrburg was destroyed."
