The town church of St. Marien was built in the 14th century as a Gothic hall church. The three naves are spanned by a richly structured vault, which is similar to St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. The St. Mary's Church reminds us that the city of Herzberg committed itself to the Reformation early on. I was particularly impressed that almost all of the places have a name.

The town church of St. Marien is a three-nave late Gothic hall church in which each nave is closed off by an apse (altar, choir niche). The start of construction of the red brick church is unclear. The church is 42.50 meters long, 22 meters wide and 14.50 meters high with a ridge height of 30.90 meters. The tour of the tower is at a height of 36.30 meters, the lantern base at 49 meters, the sphere ultimately at 59.40 meters, and the golden heart is at 64.27 meters above the viewer.
