Excerpt from the leaflet:
"In the upper part of the Forkendorfer Bach, several fish ponds have been created since the 1960s due to the damming of smaller water areas. The area of the uppermost and largest one was bought by the State Association for Bird Protection in Bavaria, Bayreuth district group, in 2016, and since then the fish pond has become a species-rich pond biotope and created a lean meadow.
Sand lizards, slow worms, ring snakes, numerous insects, kingfishers and gray herons as well as common and water frogs, cross and common toads can already be observed shortly after the biotope has been created.
The adjacent area also belongs to the acquired area. south-facing slope with an extensively cultivated, meager meadow.
There is already a magnificent population of pitch pink (Silena viscaria) growing there."
