the Wake & Groove is a place that I love to visit again and again. During a short stop you can watch the boarders doing their sometimes spectacular jumps with a cold drink. A touch of Hawaii feeling in the middle of Upper Bavaria. Unfortunately, the service in the catering trade has declined significantly compared to 2022 - sometimes long waiting times and unfriendly staff. There should have been a change of tenants - hope that will improve again soon. I will still stop by with the bike from time to time!

The primary lake district is the Feilenmoos Lake District, located between Geisenfeld and Manching, offering a landscape of gravel pit lakes. Slightly further afield, Mandlachsee is another popular artificial lake known for its recreational facilities.
The Feilenmoos Lake District, particularly Kreisweiher Feilenmoos, is excellent for swimming, surfing, and stand-up paddling due to its excellent water quality and flat entry. Mandlachsee also offers high water quality for a pleasant swimming experience. Additionally, Auwald Lake and Heath Pond are popular for swimming and relaxation.
Yes, both the Feilenmoos Lake District and Mandlachsee are very family-friendly. Kreisweiher Feilenmoos features a children's playground, barbecue facilities, a kiosk, and ample parking. Mandlachsee offers a children's and ball playground, a bathing island, changing rooms, showers, toilets, and a kiosk. Heath Pond also has facilities and a beach suitable for families.
For watersports like wakeboarding, visit the Wake & Groove Cable Park. You can sit on the terrace with a drink and watch wakeboarders perform jumps, or participate yourself.
The Feilenmoos Lake District, originally a moor, offers clear water and surrounding green spaces. The Old Danube Oxbow, Pförring is a natural monument, a former river branch now a standing body of water, known for beautiful reflections of trees and leaves in autumn. Mandlachsee also boasts diverse fish, aquatic animals, and water lilies, contributing to its natural charm.
Yes, there are several hiking opportunities. You can find trails like the 'Höger Forst – Hög Mixed Forest loop' or 'Wake & Groove Watersports Park loop' which are easy to moderate. For more details and routes, explore the Hiking around Geisenfeld guide and the Easy hikes around Geisenfeld guide.
Near Auwald Lake, there is a very good restaurant with a large beer garden. The Birkenheide Beer Garden is another cozy, large option near Geisenfeld, offering delicious home-style cuisine. Both the Feilenmoos Lake District and Mandlachsee also have kiosks operating during the bathing season.
The bathing season, typically from May 15th to September 15th, is ideal for swimming and water activities, as water quality is regularly checked and amenities like kiosks are open. For enjoying the natural beauty and hiking, spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures and scenic views, especially at places like the Old Danube Oxbow.
While general recreational use like swimming is usually free, specific activities like fishing at Mandlachsee may require permits. It's always advisable to check local regulations for activities such as surfing or stand-up paddling, especially within the Feilenmoos Lake District.
Visitors particularly appreciate the diverse recreational opportunities, from relaxing swims in clear waters to watching exciting wakeboarding at Wake & Groove Cable Park. The family-friendly amenities, good water quality, and the chance to enjoy nature, often with a refreshing drink at a beer garden, are frequently highlighted.
