Pfalzbach Gorge

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

A circular walk straight into nature
The Pfalzbach Gorge is located just outside Neustadt an der Aisch. A 7.5 kilometer circular route (marking N3) leads from the fairground over the site of the former Franconian royal court Riedfeld into the middle of untouched nature. After the residential development, the Pfalzbach circular route plunges into a landscape in which nature is largely left to its own devices. First of all, the path runs through a narrow valley cut through the soft clay deposits of the Lehrberg strata. Partially equipped with stepping stones, the path climbs gently, then becomes steeper, up to the plateau of the sandstone. From here you can enjoy the wide view over the Aish valley and the foothills of the Frankenhöhe. On the paved road to the right, the café at the airport invites you to take a break with coffee and cake on Sundays and public holidays.
It goes back through old orchards into the Pfalzbach gorge to the "Rote Marter",

Small but beautiful is the best way to describe it. The N3 hiking route leads through the gorge and is really nice to walk.

I think small but beautiful describes it best. It's disappointing at first, but the further you go into the "gorge", the more beautiful it becomes.

A very beautiful gorge, natural and beautiful. The mosquitoes loved to eat me though. The stones that were specially placed there in the muddy areas are great and useful. You should definitely walk through it, it's worth it!
