It is possible to avoid the ladders by a path, which is better indicated from the bottom than from the top! The ladders are vertical and long.... not suitable for young children.

The Tungelschuss waterfall plunges roaring water from the Tungelbach stream over several cascades into the depths – particularly spectacular after snowmelt. Wonderful gorge and waterfalls. Walk along the wooden stairs and walkways built into the polished limestone to admire the waterfall up close. Afterwards you can cool off in one of the crystal-clear pools.

At this point, the Savièse bisse path crosses the Prabé rock which peaks higher. Enough to make the hike a little more epic.

This is a hard (horrible?) bit, with banked slate and nothing to hold on to. If you slip you'll probably fall to your death. I shudder every time I see the pictures. Yes the path is that narrow thing in the middle of the cliff.
