Status 04/14/2022, after a long dry period: very steep, going up the trail from the bottom and taking hiking poles was a good solution for me. The most clearly visible path is very well marked. At one point a landslide took the path with it; as things stand today, you can still easily pass the said approx. 20 meters. You have to cross the creek once: If you have short legs like me, you might (depending on the water level) have to take an intermediate step into the shallow water at the edge; if you have long legs, you will probably stay dry.

Very steep, the path is poorly signposted, leads across a stream and is 20cm wide ... something for the experienced, adventure guaranteed🤩

While Mieders itself is known for recreational water play, the surrounding Stubai Valley and broader Tyrol region offer impressive natural waterfalls. Popular choices include the Sarnthein Waterfall near Trins, the Waterfall on the Besinnungsweg, and the Truna Waterfall. Further afield, Tyrol's highest, the Stuibenfall in Umhausen, is a spectacular natural wonder.
Yes, Mieders and its immediate surroundings are excellent for families. The Sarnthein Waterfall is accessible via an easy-to-walk forest path, making it suitable for families. Additionally, Mieders offers several recreational water play areas like the Alpengasthaus Koppeneck & Serles Lakes and Klaus Äuele Kid's Park, which provide interactive water fun for all ages.
You'll find a variety of trails. The Sarnthein Waterfall is reached via the Jubiläumsweg, an easy forest path. The Waterfall on the Besinnungsweg is part of a meditation path, with the trail even leading over the watercourse. For a more challenging experience, the Sill-Vill Trail offers a steep descent into the Sill gorge with views of the waterfall at Viller Bach, though it can be demanding.
The best time to visit is generally during the warmer months, from late spring to early autumn (May to October), when the snowmelt feeds the waterfalls, making them particularly powerful. During winter, some trails, like the one to Truna Waterfall, can become very icy and require caution.
Many waterfalls offer unique viewing opportunities. At Sarnthein Waterfall, a bridge allows you to get very close to the falling water. The Stuibenfall in the Ötztal Valley features 700 viewing steps, an 80-meter suspension bridge, and multiple platforms for different perspectives. The Sill-Vill Trail provides unusual views of the ski jump and the Nordkette alongside the waterfall.

It's always recommended to keep dogs on a leash and be mindful of other hikers and wildlife. For trails like the Jubiläumsweg leading to Sarnthein Waterfall, dogs are generally welcome.
Given the alpine terrain and potential for moisture, sturdy hiking boots with good grip are essential. Layers of clothing are advisable, as temperatures can change quickly. A waterproof jacket is recommended, especially near the waterfalls where spray can be significant. For challenging trails like the Sill-Vill Trail, hiking poles can be very helpful.
Yes, the Waterfall on the Besinnungsweg is noted for its refreshing cold water, ideal for cooling off during a hike on warm days. The trail even leads directly over the watercourse, allowing for a close encounter with the cool spray.
The Ruetz Waterfall is a spectacular highlight within the Stubai Valley, part of the 'Wild Water Trail'. This area features a beautifully landscaped hiking path where the Ruetz river's character changes, offering varied and attractive scenery. It's a significant natural feature in the broader region accessible from Mieders.
