In 1775 the steak house building was first mentioned as the Royal Forester's House in Bestensee. It was built by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, and served as the seat of his forester. This building in Bestensee is in its entirety the oldest surviving forester's house in the state of Brandenburg. For many years it was left to decay.
