Dudmaston Hall

Highlight • Forest

The 17th-century Dudmaston Hall occupies a rather fantastic position on the edge of the River Severn in Shropshire. Now under the management of the National Trust, this beautiful house and estate are open to the public. With managed woodlands, a vast lake, landscaped gardens and attached farmland, this estate has a bit of everything.

The house also has a large art collection including sculptures by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. The interest doesn't stop there; Charles Babbage lived at the hall for many years, inventing the central heating system here. And I haven't even scratched the surface. Take the time to visit and learn all about Dudmaston's wonderful history.

Badger Village Ponds

Highlight • Lake

A pretty village with parts dating back to medieval times. The name has nothing to do with badgers, but is a combination of the Anglo-Saxon words 'Bæcg', which was a name, and 'ofer', which signifies a hill spur.

Patshull Park is currently closed. Owners had plans to turn the hotel and golf course into a lodge holiday resort. Never got off the ground. Fishing lake still in use.
