ERSINGER MOLLIGE The information board reveals the history behind this figure. It literally says: "The people from Ersingen are mockingly called 'Mollige'. Mollige comes from Molke, the separated sour water from milk that is produced during cheese and butter production. Molke and consequently also Molkerei can be derived from melken (to milk). It is documented that around 1900, more than ten women from Ersingen were involved in the milk trade. They bought milk, including in Bilfingen, and sold it in nearby Pforzheim. Mockers said: The people from Ersingen were so poor that they had to sell the milk and dairy products and were content with the sour whey." The striking sculpture comes from the artist Siegfried Burkhardt, who also designed the "Storchenpaar" (Stork Couple), "Scheibenschläger" (Disc Thrower), and "Mäddich," among others. This installation was financed exclusively by donations. The installation took place in 2012 and is intended to be an expression of civic spirit and historical awareness in Ersingen. It fits well that it stands in front of the town hall.

Ersingen has a pretty historic town center with some half-timbered houses and a historic town hall, which is flowed through by the Kämpfelbach. The town center is currently being upgraded with a renovation program.
