The Canaan Street Historic District is basically a linear district that goes roughly from Prospect Hill Road in the north to Moss Flower Lane in the south. Most of the houses in this district date from the Greek Revival and Federal periods. They include quite a large number of civic buildings, including the former town hall, which is now the Canaan Historical Museum, and many of the residential buildings in the area, as they display either Federal or Greek Revival styling. The buildings are simply beautiful.
