Easy hikes and walks around Toledo

The Cooper Ridge Nature Trail is a 2.3-mile loop located in South Beach State Park. This fairly easy trail winds around the campground, making it a nice hike after dinner if camping out. It takes you through diverse coastal vegetation, including lush forests and open areas, providing opportunities to observe local wildlife and enjoy wildflowers. Some sections, however, can get a little overgrown and it can be buggy in the warmer months.

The Old Jetty Trail is a popular 2-mile out-and-back trail that meanders through a coastal forest in South Beach State Park. This scenic trail well-maintained, with some sections featuring boardwalks over wet areas, and is suitable for families and casual hikers. There are several points where it intersects with South Jetty Trail, another popular trail, and places where you can access the beach. Dogs are welcome on the trail but must be kept on a leash. Parking is available at the trailhead where there are restrooms.

The Mike Miller Educational Trail is a short, mile-long loop located near South Beach, Oregon, and is popular for for birding, hiking, and walking. It's open year-round and dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in designated areas. The trail winds through a lush old-growth forest featuring Sitka spruce, western hemlock, Douglas fir, and coastal pine trees. Along the path, you'll encounter bridges, observation decks, and benches. There are interpretive trail guides available at the start for you to follow along as you hike and learn about the area's ecosystems.

Hear, see and smell the sea lions! The wooden sea lion docks at Port Dock One on Newport's Bay Front have provided sea lion transportation for over 18 years. They offer the public a unique opportunity to observe these amusing and interesting animals up close. For many, this is the quintessential Newport experience.

The Bayfront is the heart of Newport. You'll find a number of great restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. There is also a working fleet of commercial fishing ships along with docks that have been taken over by sea lions. This is what the Oregon Coast is famous for.

This state park lies on the north side of Yaquina Bay, where the Yaquina River meets the Pacific. You'll find trails, beaches, and great views of the Yaquina Bay Bridge & lighthouse.

This is where the California sea lions live and make Pier 39 in San Francisco forget. California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) love to lie on the rocks and documents while visiting Yaquina Bay. Port Dock One is the main location to see them up close. Voted Best Free Tourist Attraction, Port Dock One is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Adult and sub-adult male sea lions can be found on the documents. They live here 11 months of the year. In July they migrate to the Channel Islands in Southern California, where the females remain all year round. Locals call July "quiet summer nights" because it's the only time of year when you don't hear them barking. After breading, they return in the first week of August.

The Old Yaquina Bay Lighthouse is located at the northern entrance to Yaquina Bay on the west coast of the USA in the state of Oregon. The tower, built in 1871, is located on the Pacific Ocean in the port city of Newport and marks the mouth of the Yaquina River and the entrance to the ports in Newport and Yaquina City. The lighthouse is the only historic wooden lighthouse in Oregon still standing and one of the few to have the lighthouse keeper's house in the same building as the tower.
