Wonderful path through the walnut forest, here without a big slope and easy to walk. During the Soviet era, the nuts were collected together and the collectors paid, after the end of the Soviet Union that collapsed. After that, far too many cattle were grazed and cut wood in the forest. This disrupted the rejuvenation of the forest and destroyed centuries-old trees. In 2003, as part of a Helvetas project, the land was leased to families for 49 years who are responsible for maintaining the forest. their harvest is valued by the forester and a tax has to be paid for it. The nuts can then be sold.
