On the market square you will find several information boards describing the history of the city, the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the building of the former town hall, entered on the list of historical monuments. Situated in the middle of the market square, over the centuries it has been destroyed by fires and rebuilt many times - its current shape refers to the late Baroque reconstruction from the 18th century. Town Hall in Pieniężno - one of the registered monuments of the town of Pieniężno in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is currently being rebuilt after the destruction during World War II. The town hall is located in the middle of a square market square. It was built in the 14th-15th centuries. Like other medieval town halls, the building was surrounded by stalls and merchants' houses. In the years 1627, 166 and 1684, the town hall was destroyed by fires. After the last destruction by fire in 1720, the building was rebuilt in the late Baroque style. The town hall had one floor and was built on a rectangular plan. The building was covered with a hipped roof made of Dutch roof tiles. In the middle of the ridge, an octagonal tower with two storeys was built with a metal balustrade, which created a small viewing terrace. The upper part of the tower was much narrower, covered with a spire with a spire opening and a pennant with the date 1772. The southern and northern walls were covered by adjacent buildings, which are currently being reconstructed to their pre-1772 condition. https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratusz_w_Pieni%C4%99%C5%BCnie

St. Arnold Janssen, the founder of the Divine Word Missionaries, was looking for young people who would go to the ends of the earth and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was particularly keen on candidates from Catholic backgrounds. He included the Warmia region among them. In 1907, he began efforts to establish a Divine Word Missionary institution in that area. In 1914, the Curia in Frombork made an offer to give up the summer bishop's palace in Smolajny to the Society of the Divine Word. However, the transaction did not take place. In 1916, Brother Zygmunt, a distributor of Divine Word Missionary magazines, found several offers for a future missionary house in Warmia. The best one was the property of the childless Kruger couple in the town of Mehlsack, currently Pieniężno.
