March 17, 2026, Shelly Beach Trail

The Shelly Beach trail is short but scenic, passing through thick tropical forests with palms, tall trees, and abundant shade. Keep your eyes peeled when in this forest for breaks in the trees where you can look over the coastline. For those wanting to get some more walking after this short trail, kick off your shoes at either Elizabeth Beach or Shelly Beach and stroll along the coastline in the harder-packed sand.

Shelly Beach has a bit stronger surf than its neighboring Elizabeth Beach, and a much more remote feel. Steep forests back the beach and can be reached on foot (and by authorized vehicles) via Shelly Beach Trail, which is also a road for authorities.

Elizabeth Beach is a stunning beach with pinkish-golden sands and crystal-clear water within Booti Booti National Park. The waves here are usually gentle, which makes it a great swimming beach. There are forested headlands surrounding the beach, as well as nearby parking and picnic spots.

A beautiful sandy beach. Next to the parking lot are two seating areas and public restrooms.

Narrow stretch of land with sandy shores for swimming & fishing, plus hiking trails & picnic tables. Smooth and flat all the way over, and very picturesque.

The rest area here is not a campsite and camping is not allowed..... However, if you hypothetically had a small setup like a one man tent or bivy and walked up the walking track a bit, I'm sure you could find a nice little hidden spot. Alternatively, there are some tracks on the other side of the road from here. It's a pretty beautiful place to wake up.
