July 6, 2026, Lake Kénogami trailhead parking

There's a small dirt lot at the end of the road here for those heading out on the trails along the Lake Kénogami. The final stretch of the dirt road can be rough, but if you have a low clearance vehicle there is also parking roughly 1 kilometre further back that will be more suitable for you.

This is one of the best viewpoint along the Trail of the Ancients. From this vantage point you'll have a towering overlook over Lake Kénogami and the surrounding area. However, there is a steep drop-off so keep well back from the edge.

This trail traces the edge of the lake though the dense forest obscures any views for the majority of its length. However, the path does lead to an outstanding lookout at Cape Eagle which makes the steep sections worth the effort.

The hike is not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the sense of smell. It smells wonderfully of the forest here!

Here the river rushes through an impressive gorge – with walls of rock on the banks.

A hike that offers many viewpoints over a short distance. A trail that is still rugged, to be done with good trail running shoes or hiking boots.
