March 6, 2026, South Bruny Coastline lookout

This cliffside viewpoint along the Fluted Cape walk reveals sweeping views of the rugged South Bruny coastline. From the edge of the track, you can look down toward the deep blue Tasman Sea and across the long curves of shoreline stretching into the distance. It’s one of the most dramatic perspectives on the hike and a place where the scale of Bruny Island’s wild southern coast becomes clear.

Penguin Island sits just off the rocky shoreline along Grass Point and can be reached on foot when the tide is low. The small island is thought to be named for the little penguins that inhabit parts of the Bruny Island coast, although sightings here are not guaranteed and they are usually active after dark. At low tide you can carefully cross the exposed rocks and explore the island’s shoreline, with clear views back toward Adventure Bay and the Tasman Sea.

Grass Point Track follows the coastline from Adventure Bay through open coastal bushland toward the base of Fluted Cape. The path is easy to follow, passing sandy coves, rocky shoreline and pockets of forest along the way. It’s a quieter section of the walk with frequent glimpses across Adventure Bay and the Tasman Sea. Wallabies are often seen grazing in the surrounding grasslands, particularly in the early morning or late afternoon.
