The Franconian apothecary garden in Schwebheim can be experienced during a visit to the Kräuterpavillon (herb pavilion), which fascinates visitors with an interactive exhibition and modern media stations. A 2.7 km long and seasonally changing herb trail invites you for a walk. Kräuterpavillon with interactive exhibition and modern media stations: Schulstraße, 97525 Schwebheim The Schwebheim herb growers today have the know-how for cultivating 54 different medicinal and spice herbs on 100 hectares of land. It all started about 350 years ago when natural scientists became aware of the botanical diversity in Schwebheim's fields. Since then, interest in herbs has not waned. While they were once collected wild, from the 19th century onwards, farmers began to professionally cultivate their fields with medicinal and spice herbs: initially, these included marshmallow, valerian, angelica, tarragon, and peppermint, soon followed by lemon balm, parsnips, and root parsley. In the past, buyers came to the village after the harvest; since 1923, trading and processing companies have been based in Schwebheim itself. (Info: Schwebheim.de) Opening hours: April 1 to October 31 daily 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM (free admission)

Work has been going on in, on and around the castle for months. The inner castle grounds are being renovated, and the old walls are to be made accessible to many guests. It is to be a living monument that invites people to linger and celebrate. That is the intention of Marcel Neubert, the last descendant of the von Bibra family, who have lived there since the 16th century, and who is managing the extensive undertaking. (Info: MainPost)
