This spot below and next to the Silverfallet waterfall does not only offer a flat ground but also a great view to the lake, to the stony beach, to the waterfall and towards Lapporten. When I was there, it was windy all around but only little wind at this spot.

Impressive waterfall coming down a very narrow gorge. Also the mouth of the river into the lake is worth seeing.

The path from the Gammelgarden car park is heavily used even in winter and can therefore be icy.

A nice loop trail, along the rapids. Easy to walk on and partly also barrier-free.

What is the best time of year to experience the waterfalls in Norrbottens län?

The best time to experience the full power and beauty of Norrbottens län's waterfalls is typically during late spring and early summer, when snowmelt contributes to higher water levels. Examples include the Storforsen Rapids – Storforsen Wooden Bridge loop from Storforsen and the Nature Trail Along the Rapids – Storforsen Rapids loop from Storforsen, both offering convenient round trips.

What other natural attractions can I see near the waterfall trails?

Beyond the waterfalls themselves, Norrbottens län boasts a wealth of natural beauty. Near the Storforsen area, you can explore the vast forests and wetlands characteristic of the region. If you're near Abisko, the dramatic Abiskojåkka Canyon is a notable highlight. The region is also home to the impressive Muddus Waterfall, located within Muddus National Park, which offers walks through lush forests and gurgling moorlands.

Are the waterfall trails in Norrbottens län dog-friendly?

What should I wear for waterfall hiking in Norrbottens län?

Given the varied weather in Norrbottens län, especially near water, it's best to dress in layers. Waterproof and windproof outer layers are highly recommended, as spray from waterfalls can make you wet and temperatures can drop. Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good grip are essential for navigating potentially wet or uneven terrain. Always check the local weather forecast before heading out.

Are there any hidden gem waterfalls in Norrbottens län that are less crowded?

While Storforsen is a major and popular attraction, Norrbottens län's vast wilderness means there are many smaller, less-known cascades and rapids along its numerous rivers. Exploring trails in less frequented nature reserves or national parks like Muddus National Park, which features the Muddus Waterfall, can lead to more secluded waterfall experiences away from the main tourist routes.
