Rainer
May 11, 2026, Masaya Casa Viejas Hostel

The Masaya Casas Viejas is a boutique hostel and eco-lodge in the Magdalena region, nestled in the heart of the 1,235-hectare Finca La Victoria coffee farm. It is located about 30 minutes from the town of Minca in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

The La Victoria coffee plantation near Minc is one of the oldest and most traditional coffee plantations in the country. It was founded in 1892 by British engineers and is now run as an active coffee museum. What makes it unique is that the plantation still works with the original machines from the late 19th century, which were largely imported from England and the USA. The entire coffee process uses gravity and hydropower from the mountains to drive the machines. In addition to coffee, the site houses the Nevada Brewery, a craft brewery that produces various types of beer with spring water from the Sierra Nevada.

A great system of several natural rock pools and small waterfalls in the Río Gaira. It is a beautiful place for swimming and cliff jumping.

Pozo Azul is a natural pool in the middle of the jungle, perfect for cooling off. It's usually quite crowded, though.

He went down the road that goes to Escudo Tagua. The descent is mostly done on foot and he returns from there. What he goes down he must go up. The value is 25,000 to the waterfall at the top. According to what they say, you cannot go out on the other side.

Tour from main road is a bit more challenging than it appears on Komoot. Circa 6k return and more elevation.

End of rain season this waterfall was stunning! Barely for a swim being so strong. Go there!
