This is a lovely stretch that leads away from the switchback road and into some gorgeous wild country. The trails along the Holsteinåne allow you to intimately acquaint with a tumbling river, while there's also the option of ascending the Kvitingane massif, with its twin main summits Kvitingane and Leinenøsane.

From here you have beautiful views out over Fløgatjerne, Haugatjerne, and Nordre Holleskardtjerne lakes, along with some other smaller ones dotted about the place. Fløgatjerne is particularly attractive, as it has a little peninsula that nearly splits the lake in two.

September 11, 2025, Mjølke-Lars Shelter

Mjølke-Lars bua is a charming and historic hut nestled in the mountain pastures of Flikja. The name, which means "The hut of Milk-Lars," points to the rich history of summer farming in the area. This small, traditional building is a great place to stay overnight. It stands as a testament to the life of the herders who once worked in these mountains, and it's a wonderfully authentic highlight to find on your hike. The views over the lake are a special part of the experience. You can book your stay here: https://www.inatur.no/hytte/5b6d6f57108342000385109a

As you hike through the landscape near Jaslangen you'll be delighted to arrive at the peaceful shore of Lake Movaten. This tranquil part of the trail offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the reflection of the sky and surrounding hills on the calm water. The path is a wonderful spot to slow down and enjoy the quiet beauty of the Valdres region. It’s an ideal place to take a break, listen to the sounds of nature, and appreciate the serene views.

A partly rideable trail on a gravelbike, so probably fully rideable for a skilled mountainbiker. The two roads it connects are both amazing.
