The oldest parts of the church date from the second half of the 15th century. The choir, as remnants of old foundations show, originally had a round shape. The present-day straight choir termination with three segmental arch windows was established at the end of the 16th century. The painting of the pews, pulpit, altar screen and gallery balustrade was overpainted during the renovation in 1883, and restored after more than 100 years. The nave consists of a half-timbered structure, which is enclosed by a fully brick-built structure. The originally higher church tower, at that time a wooden tower clad with planks on the stone substructure, was blown down by a storm on January 17, 1817. The present-day half-timbered upper part was erected in the years 1827/28. The church has a flat beamed ceiling inside. The altar balustrade and altar painting, actually an epitaph with the depiction of the Apostle Andrew, date from the beginning of the 17th century. The pulpit is dated 1605 and was donated due to a vow. The altar of Mary, which was in the church until 1883, is located in ruins in the St. Petrikirche in Wolgast.
