Nice and technical! Even with a modern wide MTB handlebar you can get through it well. Good steering though.

Dear MTB riders. The description states that this route is easy for beginners (the green route), but after doing it with my son we come to the conclusion that the red route is really a lot easier. Perhaps a matter of preference, but we found the green route much harder. Lots of climbing, really lots of roots and areas with soft sand. The red route is much smoother with better transitions and therefore much easier for less experienced cyclists in our opinion.

Yes, experienced riders will find challenging sections. For instance, the Long Climb Zandgat offers tough and technical climbs as part of a recently refurbished route. Additionally, the trails around Bornia feature short, fierce climbs and steep descents, often with loose sand, providing a demanding ride.
The trails offer several unique features. The Snakerun Mountain Bike Trail is a notable highlight, boasting a 600-meter long snakerun known for being one of the best-maintained MTB routes in the Netherlands. Another distinctive spot is the Narrow passage between the trees, a tight section where trees come very close to handlebars, requiring extra attention.
While many sections cater to intermediate and experienced riders, the Den Treek-Henschoten area offers a good balance. Some trails provide opportunities to practice technical skills, and the overall 'flow' of the trails makes them enjoyable. Beginners should look for less technical sections or consider guided tours to get acquainted with the terrain.
The mountain bike trails in Leusden are generally well-maintained and enjoyable year-round. However, conditions can vary. During dry periods, sections with drifting sands, like those near Bornia, can become very loose. In wet weather, trails might be muddy, as noted by riders experiencing the Long Climb Zandgat in the rain. Always check local weather conditions before heading out.

You can find more details on these activities in the hiking guide, gravel biking guide, and road cycling guide for Leusden.
Some routes in the wider region, such as the Hoge & Lage Vuursche route, explicitly state that a vignette is needed for access. While not all trails may require one, it's advisable to check for specific requirements for the section you plan to ride, especially within well-maintained trail networks like those in Den Treek-Henschoten.
Visitors frequently praise the 'flow' of the trails, describing them as enjoyable and well-suited for mountain biking. The presence of features like turning bends and the combination of climbs and flow sections contribute to a dynamic riding experience. The well-maintained routes and the scenic environment of forests and natural landscapes also significantly enhance the overall enjoyment.
