Nikkelverk is a former mine at Senja in Troms and Finnmark , which operated for 14 years (1872 – 1886), and which now remains as a cultural site. There are still some remaining buildings. Mining pit areas, walls after spoon houses, voice houses and smelting huts. The railway route, the stone quay and the slag fill are also visible. At the mine, you will find a quarry and a transport road. In connection with the mining, a Hydro-powered electricity plant was built in 1882. It generated 6.5 kW which were used for lighting. This was the first hydroelectric plant in Europe and possibly in the world. // SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA

One of Senja's gorgeous peaks, which offers a truly breathtaking view in all directions. The ascent is exhausting, but always on well visible and easy to walk paths. Only the summit part is a bit exposed. The highest, dizzying point can be climbed relatively easily (with us, however, was also fantastic weather and absolute calm).
