Admission is €12 p.p. and a guide is included. We took part in the English-speaking tour, which we found very informative and entertaining. Admission is always worth it! Wanderfalke@ already reported that you can only climb a tower as part of a guided tour.

In Savonlinna you can admire one of the best-preserved medieval buildings in Northern Europe: the Olafsburg. The "Olavinlinna" (the Finnish name of the castle) was built on the rocky island of Kyrönsaari and is enthroned amidst the seascape that surrounds Savonlinna. You can reach the castle via a ferry. In addition to a permanent exhibition of the National Museum of Finland, opera festivals are also held in the castle. You can find more information about this here: kansallismuseo.fi/en/olavinlinna.
