Canklow Woods is a great biking area and its on my doorstep. Its a large wood, with a level and fairly flat area at the top (behind the Hospital, Oakwood school, and Thomas Rham College) then its descends down to Canklow roundabout. The descent from the centre section can be a bit steep in places but if you ride across the top bit towards Woodfoot Rd Norfolk Est, you can take the shallower descent routes down to Canklow. Its a very nice ride.

The Canklow Forest is an ancient woodland and home to many animal and plant species. If you enter this forest during the wet season, you should bring good shoes. Unfortunately, you won't find the peace and quiet you expect in this forest because the traffic from the adjacent A630 more or less penetrates the forest.

If riding from Sheffield, this is the first bit of 'proper' peace and quiet you get when heading East. Not many easy ways to get up here so the first views of the flatlands ahead are very welcome!
