Sometimes known as the "Lady of the Vale", it is a large church which has the 2nd highest spire in Leicestershire (at 212 feet). The oldest part of the church dates from the 12th century, with additions and alterations made during the following three centuries, including the nave and spire in the 15th century. There are two gargoyles on the south transept.

The Nature Reserve at Farndon is one of very few remaining survivors of the working willow holts that were found in many villages alongside the River Trent. The site at Farndon is particularly important as it houses an internationally-known collection of willows and hybrid species.

Nice coffee stop, out of the way from the main village. Safe for bikes.

Well worth a slight detour off the high street for a decent coffee or tea break plus if you require something something more they do a decent English breakfast. Open lunchtimes during the week which is a blessing as we planned three breaks and all of the cafe's were closed on a Tuesday.
