December 28, 2022, Kessingland Levels

Just behind the dunes between the beach and the village are the Kessingland Levels, an area of grazing land. Hiking along here is a lovely way to get to the sea from Kessingland, avoiding walking on the road.

Near Lowestoft, yet very quiet, Kessingland Beach is long, sandy and wide with cliffs stretching behind. It feels very wild ad unspoilt. Even so, there are still a number of cafes to chose from on the waterfront and views of Lowestoft to the north.

This thatched church sits atop the cliffs at Pakefield in Suffolk and has done since medieval times. There has been a church on this site since before Roman occupation although nothing remains of former iterations. It remains an active church with services several times a week.

The cliff path that takes you past the church is the coastal footpath. So although many of us cycle along it do remember that pedestrians always have the right of way
