Great ride with fantastic views. It was a long hard slog up to Hoy Monument, path very narrow, very uneven, I had to push, but well worth it.

Carisbrooke is a great place to visit, well worth the money to get in. The castle is well looked after.

From here if you look south you can see over the rural countryside to the sea. Look north and you'll see the mast up on the top of Chillerton Downs.

Garstons Downs has been listed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) since 1971 as it is an important area of untouched chalkland. It can be fairly quiet up here compared to the more visited coastal downlands so a run up here should give you a wonderful opportunity to bathe in nature.

Carisbrooke Castle began life as a fort in Roman times. The castle we see today was built soon after the Norman Conquest. More recently, it was refurbished to the impressive buildings we see today by the Princess Beatrice, the youngest daughter of Queen Victoria who lived here with the Governor of the Isle of Wight.
