Oak, ash and hazel create a fantastic habitat for birds and animals here, and in summer it's buzzing with life. In spring, the forest floor is full of colour with bluebells, wood anemone and daffodils. Willow warblers and nuthatches call the copse their home, so keep an eye out and you might spot them.

Set amongst green farmland, Alfold is a charming Surrey village with a village shop and a pub a little walk away. Land around the village would have been used for glass making until the beginning of the 17th century when charcoal was forbidden to be used in glass production. The charcoal would have been used to create gunpowder instead. Alfold was an affluent village with four manor houses which belong to various lords. You can still see many historical buildings in the village, as well as the stocks and whipping post!

This pretty Grade I-listed church nestled in the heart of Alfold village. The church was built in the 12th century and retains many original features. Inside, you can view a 12th-century font, a Jacobean pulpit and 17th-century monuments.

A beautiful writer section of the canal, not well known I think as I’ve never seen anyone else there. A good place to stop and listen to the sounds of nature.
