Hidden in the forests of Central Bohemia, one of the most extraordinary sights in the Czech Republic awaits: the Devil's Heads of Želízy. The massive rock reliefs, around nine meters high, are among the largest of their kind worldwide and are not without reason called Bohemia's Mount Rushmore. The monumental heads were created between 1841 and 1846 by the sculptor Václav Levý, a pioneer of European rock art. With astonishing precision, he chiseled the striking faces directly into the soft sandstone. Even today, the lifelike features, the detailed hair and beards, and the immense size of the sculptures are impressive. But the Devil's Heads are just one of several artworks along this varied hike. You repeatedly encounter further rock reliefs and sculptures created by Levý, which blend harmoniously into the sandstone landscape and give the region its very special character. Václav Antonín Chotek had his seasonal residence built at the beginning of the 18th century and it represents an important work of the high Baroque. The author of the design was probably Giovanni Battista Alliprandi, an architect of Italian origin who worked in Bohemia. The castle consists of a main building with a higher cylindrical core, from which four one-story wings extend. On the north side there is a monumental two-flight staircase with a sculpture group. The courtyard is then finished on the north with a series of allegorical sculptures from the workshop of Matyáš Bernard Braun. In the interiors you will see decorations and furnishings mainly in the Baroque and Rococo style. Around the castle there is a large English park with a number of romantic small buildings and sculptures, which was created at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. You can see the castle as part of one of the sightseeing tours that will introduce you to the life of the nobility or to the stay here of General Laudon during the so-called Potato War of 1778.

Hořín is a Baroque chateau with farm grounds in the municipality of the same name in the Mělník District in the Central Bohemian Region. The chateau is surrounded by a large chateau park of approximately 10 hectares. The chateau, along with the grounds and the chateau park, are protected as a cultural monument. After the Velvet Revolution, the chateau and the surrounding land were restituted by the Lobkowicz family of Mělník. In 2024, Jiří Lobkowicz sold the chateau.

Hořín is a picturesque village in the Mělník district with a rich history, dating back to 1319. The dominant feature is the Baroque Lobkowicz Castle from 1696. The unique Mělník - Vraňany navigation canal with a lock from 1905 also passes through here.
