The beginning of the hike is beautiful, but you walk 90% over partly very loose lava gravel, the beach Djúpalónssandur with black sand is breathtaking, we saw whales. On the further hike above the cliff coast, we turned back because the path broke off several times at the coast edge and it became too dangerous.

A small but nice visitor center. There are several exhibits about life on farms and in the fishing industry. You can try seaweed snacks and purchase a few souvenirs. A good stop, especially in bad weather.

With the help of the strength test stones, it was checked whether the men were fit for the boat. The stones weigh 23 kg, 54 kg, 100 kg, and 154 kg. Anyone who could only lift 23 kg was considered a "weakling", 54 kg a "useful person" and was allowed on the boat. Anyone who lifted 100 kg was a "half-strongman", 154 kg a "complete strongman".

The hike to the rock formation is worth it. If you're lucky, you might see arctic foxes.

You can take a wonderful walk along the coast here; many birds nest on the rugged cliffs.

Very beautiful and interesting beach. Unfortunately we were there in the pouring rain, but the round, black stones shone like mirrors.
